You don't have to be the next Frank Frazetta to upload here, but in the interests of restricting the Common Internet Swarming Teenager (
Juvenilis interwebensis) to its
natural habitats, certain "styles" of art lifted wholly from popular animated works are not allowed. This applies especially, but not exclusively, to the following:
- That particular guitar-pick-faced, glassy-eyed "anime" look so popular in modern Japanese cartooning.
- Balto dogs, lion kings, spirit horses, and other things lifted from modern blockbuster Disney/Dreamworks/etc films.
- Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Jhonen Vasquez.
- Anything else stiff, trendy, and easy to copy.
This is not to say that you can't draw some inspiration from any of these things, just that they must obviously not be your only inspirations.
This rule applies doubly to fan art. Reinvent characters as tributes, don't copy them from the model sheet.
