I probably should've taken a more intermediate picture, because the piece is almost finished now and the other WIP picture here is from when it was just barely started.
Anyway, here's the piece as of something like 26 hours of work. This is the one that was based on a faux-marble floor tile, and when I first noticed an image in it the image was a mechanical lion eating a space ship. Which I thought was just an awesome subject for a picture. Unfortunately, by the time I got to drawing it, I couldn't find the space ship I had seen anymore, and nothing I improvised looked very good. Fortunately I was able to eke a mechanical hyena out of the extra space, and then a little bit of African savannah imagery.
I'm going to try colorizing this one just a bit. You can see I started on the lion's mane already, though it isn't as subtle as I was hoping it would. I lost my duct tape bag of pencils though. Nooooo
Also, like most of these WIPs, this is just a bad webcam picture. When the piece is finished I'll take a higher quality photo of it, and then you can see the tall grass that I don't like!
